- Case details
- The case is made from solid
English Oak or solid Cherry,
which gives a truely beautiful resonance to the gongs
and chimes,
this includes all components.
- like the longcase clocks of
old the case is made of two sections -
the base and the hood.
- the base consists of a simple
panelled plinth, the trunk has a solid door
hung on solid brass offset hinges.
- the hood removes by sliding
forward and lifting off.
the hinged door has 3/4 turned pillars the remaining
1/4 pillars
are at the back of the hood body.
- the case is antiqued and traditionally
finished by French polishing,
this time honoured method gives a finish which not only
enhances the
true beauty of the wood but which also improves with
age.

x 20"w x 11"d -1950mm x 500mm x 275mm approx
- Movement
- The clock movement is a German
made Hermle 8 day 4/4 Westminster chime chain and weight
driven movement and includes a night shut off.
- Dial details
- dial back plate 1.6mm brass
with hand engraved centre.
- chapter ring 1.6mm brass deep
etched numerals and silver plated.
- chapter ring surrounded by
four solid cast brass spandrels.
- on the right hand side of
the dial is a chime shut off lever.
- the brass and silver are not
artificially lacquered
so that the true character and natural lustre of the
metals is allowed to
mature with age.
